Monteverdi Tuscany, Italy

Medieval village in among the Tuscan valleys

Monteverdi Hotel & Villas is located in the village of Castiglioncello del Trinoro, frozen on a hill at an equal distance both to Rome and to Florence.

A collection of 12 room boutique hotel, 3 villas, restaurant Oreade, farm-to-table cafe, a lounge bar, the Monteverdi Enoteca, a private art gallery, and a chapel is set in the stone houses dating from the 11th century, each of them is sensitively restored with the introduction of contemporary style. The renovation, started in 2004, at Michael L. Cioffi request, was completed in 2012, the same year in August, the hotel opened its doors for the visitors.

Ilaria Miani and Ernesto Bartolini presented their work in an eclectic design, using only local materials such as wood, granite, and Carrara marble. Space is unweighted and breathes with the enveloping simplicity. Natural light dominates. All that in the complex helps to enjoy both the benefits of conveniences of the modern world and the breathtaking view of the valley Val d’Orcia, UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In addition, in 2013 The Monteverdi Tuscany arts program have been established. Since that time, Marvin Gaye Chetwynd exhibition was organized, under the curation of Sarah McCory (Glasgow International Festival of Visual Arts curator) was held another art project. In the summertime, Sarteano Jazz Festival is held. Famous maestro and the conductor of Renaissance music, Sir John Eliot Gardiner organized Accademia Monteverdi. He involves students in the process of creating music and as the result give concerts in the Romanesque church Chiesa S’Andrea. The 13th-century church boasts wonderful acoustics.

Monteverdi – is a philosophy of holistic prosperity flavored with lemon trees fragrance.
